A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Proverbs 31:10 NIV
More Than Rubies
Evidence of rubies and sapphires first discovered in the ground near Hopedale back in 2019 was a big find for the future of the Labrador mining industry, said Natural Resources Minister Siobhan Coady. Cody told CBC Labrador Morning, “I think it’s very exciting. It’s early days and early results, but they do show small grains of sapphires and rubies and sediments originating from the rocks that are similar to those that you see in Greenland.” The project involved airborne work to map the ground.
Rubies are the second hardest natural gemstone after diamonds. They are beautifully red and are rare enough to be highly valued and of great worth. If you’re ever in Myanmar, make sure to look up some rubies – some of the world’s best are there. As precious as rubies are, there is something far more precious. King Solomon, who was one of the wealthiest kings in his day, writes this in Proverbs 31:10: “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” King Solomon recognized the value of a godly wife. They have an impact on their marriage, their children and their grandchildren. They speak with insight and wisdom, often based on experiences that taught them much. How kind of Solomon to speak so highly of such a woman. More husbands need to speak this way about their wives. Christian husband, what kinds of things do you say about your wife when she isn’t around? Are you honouring her by the words you use to describe her? Your words form your thoughts and feelings over time. Your wife is worth far more than rubies. Speak this to her and to others about her.
These have been words from the heart.
