There is no doubt that our world is broken. We don’t have to check out much news to realize that the world is far from perfect. And if we take the time for a little self-examination, we will admit that we, too, are far from perfect. We all live with regrets for what we have said or done, for letting ourselves and others down, for falling far short of God’s standard, which is to be perfect as He is perfect. This not only affects our hearts and souls, but our bodies as well. We suffer from all sorts of physical ailments. There is coming a day for the follower of Jesus when all our spiritual, emotional and physical shortcomings will be made whole. Come, Lord Jesus. But in the meantime, Jesus comes to us to begin the healing. We see this regularly in the Gospels. In Mark 5:34, for example, we read “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’” Jesus still heals today. When He does, it is a sign that the promised day, when all shall be made perfect, is coming. In the meantime, trust Jesus for healing.
