Words from the Heart for Monday July 2nd, 2018
You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.
Revelation 4:11 (NKJV)
You Are Worthy
As the Lord looks across His creation, nothing exists except that He is the all-wise and all-powerful Maker. Every part of His creation is intended to bring Him honour. He has chosen to give us life. Let us choose to give Him glory.
In December 2017, UNESCO added 33 new cultural practices to its list of what it calls “intangible cultural heritage.” UNESCO defines cultural intangibles as “traditions or living expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants.” The list currently recognizes 468 cultural practices, from 117 different countries. But there’s not a single intangible from Canada because, in fact, Canada is not a signatory to the convention. When asked to list what could make the list such things as poutine, windchill and the native jingle dress dance were suggested.
Human beings honour those who have created things that become meaningful in our lives. Who doesn’t know about Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, or further back in time, Thomas Edison who invented the lightbulb? If we honour such human beings, how much more should we honour the Creator of the entire world? We read about this in Revelation 4:11, “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Bright human beings have the ability to create new things. But they do so based on what has been created in the past, using things that already exist. Only God was able to create from nothing – He designed in His mind and spoke things into being. What a God we know and serve. Our response ought to be honour. How can you honour the Lord today? Think about the many blessings that He has provided in your life and you will find that you naturally find ways to praise Him and honour Him.
These have been words from the heart.
