Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

Never Shaken

Happy Canada Day! Fireworks are a big part of Canada Day celebrations across the country. According to thefurbearers.com webpage, there’s a lot to love about fireworks: they light up the night sky, make booms that shake the ground, and let the whole wide world know that we’re celebrating. For animals, however, the problem is that the fireworks light up the night sky, make booms that shake the ground, and let the whole wide world know that we’re celebrating. It can be extremely trying for your pets. The furbearers website has some good suggestions to lessen the stress.

Tough times can shake us to the core. Our lives are moving along swimmingly until something unexpected happens – the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, a financial crisis. It just rocks our world and we wonder if we will ever get back to any sense of normalcy. While these kinds of experiences hit us all, and no one is exempt from grief, for the follower of Jesus, there is a stability that overcomes all of the challenges of life. Psalm 112:6-7 says, “Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” It’s not that Christians don’t deal with grief. The Lord doesn’t expect that. After all, when Jesus came to the tomb of His friend Lazarus, He wept. But when we do face loss and pain, we have the assurance that our unchanging Lord is holding us firm. He keeps our hearts steadfast on Him and He gives us hope for the future. If your world has been rocked lately, keep your gaze on the Rock, Jesus Christ.

These have been words from the heart.
