Words from the Heart for Monday July 12th, 2021
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NLT)
Honour Him in Your Youth
Nearly 100% of Canadian youth aged 15 to 30 use the Internet on a daily basis or own their own smartphone – broadly similar across all provinces and across all household income groups. 77% of youth aged 15 to 30 use the Internet to follow news and current affairs. One half of youth aged 25 to 30 conduct transactions on the Internet at least weekly – almost twice that of older Canadians. 93% of youth aged 15 to 30 use social networking sites.
We hear all sorts of statistics about Canadian youth. They face pressures and decisions that I certainly didn’t when I was young. I am always encouraged when I meet a young person who is walking with Jesus and living a life that honours Him. The Bible has a lot to say to Christian youth. For example, in Ecclesiastes 12:1 we read “Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” It is a proven fact that the vast majority of Christians today came to faith in Jesus by their 14th birthday. This is why children’s and youth ministry are critical. If you are a young person who is a committed to Jesus Christ, take note of the great advice here. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. He birthed your faith and as you walk closely with Him, He will help you grow in your faith and in your love for Him. With such a strong foundation at this point in your life, you will find the rest of your life rich and fulfilling.
