Words from the Heart for Monday January 21st, 2019
Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.
Exodus 20:24 (NIV)
Make an Altar
The seven Books of Remembrance held by Veterans Affairs Canada commemorate the lives of more than 118,000 Canadians who, since Confederation, have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in uniform. A War of 1812 Book of Remembrance is being created to honour those who gave their lives in that pivotal conflict. Special commemorative pages are currently displayed on a new War of 1812 altar in the Ottawa Peace Tower’s Memorial Chamber until the book is completed.
We live in a day when truth is considered relative and what you believe is considered as veracious as what someone else believes, even if they are polar opposites. This of course is a logical impossibility. There must be a foundation of truth. The Bible clearly teaches that it is, and Jesus proclaims himself to the Truth. The God of the Bible has revealed truth on every page of his Word. This is the case when it comes to proper worship as well. Every nation in the days of ancient Israel worshipped the gods they had created. They created religions trying to appease the gods of their own creation, but this never led to peace of heart and mind. Only the God of Israel, the One true God, gave instructions in his word about how to properly worship him. He is a God of holiness and must be worshipped in the spirit of holiness. So In Exodus 20:24 He gives these instructions: “Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.”
These have been words from the heart.
