May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

Successful Plans

Arrive Canada gives this advice to people immigrating to Canada: “As a newcomer, the things you hope to accomplish in Canada can be tied to individual goals that are usually broadly related to your life in general, your career, or finances. Outlining or defining your goals clearly and adding an approximate time frame when you would like to accomplish them will set you off on a definitive path to making your dreams come true. It’s even better if you spend some time doing this exercise pre-arrival or during your initial months in Canada.”

The Lord Jesus knows the desires of your heart. If you love Him and desire above all things to follow His will for your life, you can count on Him blessing the plans that you have made. In Psalm 20:4 we read a wonderful wish for God’s people: “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” The context of the Psalm is a cry to God in times of distress. When challenging times come, those of us who love the Lord Jesus naturally cry out to Him for wisdom and deliverance. We bring to Him our anxieties, our concerns, our brokenness. We long for God’s abiding presence to be manifest in our lives. This is the sense in this promise. God will always hear His children when we are in trouble and He will give us the desire of our heart for His deliverance and blessing. The Lord understands the depth of your need right now – the moanings and groanings that cannot be uttered. Trust Him to meet that need and to celebrate with you when He does so.

These have been words from the heart.
