Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
Matthew 21:21 NIV

The Association for New Canadians in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, has helped welcome more than 275 Afghan refugees in the province since August 2021. The association has worked in collaboration with local businesses, churches and community members to collect household items, toys, clothes and cash donations to help the newly arrived refugees. In November 2021, they teamed up with 1620 Electrical Workers Union members, who had amassed more than $30,000, to support the private sponsorship of an Afghan family to resettle in the province.

There is no greater symbol of grandeur and stability than a mountain. In fact, the most majestic take our breath away. Just a couple of days driving through the Rockies and you lose track of the number of times you say “wow!” There is one mountain in Israel like that. Travel to the north of Israel and you can’t miss Mount Hermon. Even today when Israelis think of a mountain, Mount Hermon comes to mind. It would have as well when Jesus, in speaking about faith, says in Matthew 21:21: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig-tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” Obviously, Jesus isn’t speaking literally. Only the Creator Himself could speak mountains into being and move them at will. But faith in Him can accomplish some pretty incredible things, even things that seem impossible. What is a mountain in your life right now? What seems impossible? Have you taken it to Jesus, asking Him to move that mountain? Take it to Him today, and watch Him work.
These have been words from the heart.
