He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8 (NKJV)

He Has Shown You

An Apple ad filmed in Edmonton back in 2014 won a Creative Arts Emmy award for Outstanding Commercial. The 90-second ad was shot on Ada Boulevard in the Highlands neighbourhood and showed off snowy Edmonton. Neighbours told CBC News that film crews spent three days shooting the commercial at a historic house located on the edge of the Saskatchewan River Valley. The commercial, called “Misunderstood” follows a teenager who has his eyes glued to a phone while the rest of the family enjoys the holidays.

There are many in our world today, as there always have been, who tell us that there are multiple paths to God and it doesn’t matter which one you take, or which god you serve. The Bible tells us something altogether different. In fact, the Bible itself is a mark of the uniqueness of the Christian faith. The God of the Bible speaks. We take that for granted but only in the Christian faith does God purposefully speak into the lives of His people, calling us to Himself and instructing us in how we should live. The world’s religious systems demand doing something in order to try to get the attention of the god who is removed from them. Our God loves us and speaks to us. In Micah 6:8 He gives some clear instruction: “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” God doesn’t hide Himself from us. He has come in the person of Jesus Christ, and once we have entered into a relationship with Him by faith, we are called to obedience.

These have been words from the heart.
