Words from the Heart for Monday August 5th, 2019
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
Grace and Compassion
Becca Schofield Day — the third Saturday in September — is named after a New Brunswick teen who encouraged others to perform random acts of kindness. Rebecca began asking people to perform random acts of kindness in the months leading up to her death on February 17, 2018. This year, the second annual Becca Schofield Day was held in Riverview, New Brunswick, Becca’s hometown. Events included a free car wash at the fire hall, organized by a local elementary school, with proceeds going to a future play park that will be built in Becca’s memory.
Have you noticed that sometimes life can be challenging? For some of us, life is challenging right now. You haven’t been sleeping well lately because there has been so much on your mind. Your family is in crisis, or you’re at the end of a your financial rope, or you’ve just received some life altering news about your health. So you’ve been praying. A lot. Far more than usual. And you wonder if your prayers are being heard at all. Isaiah 30:18 has some great news for you: “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” This is a promise you can stand on as you face whatever challenge is before you. Write this on post-it notes and place them all over your house, or your office. The Lord longs to pour His grace on you. He is going to rise up and pour out His compassion. These are two of His greatest gifts – grace and compassion. You are called to simply wait for Him to send them your way.
These have been words from the heart.
