And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love,

The Greatest is Love
When you think of the greatest Canadian athlete of all time, who pops into your mind first? For many, it would be Terry Fox. Few athletes hold the type of legacy that Fox has among Canadians. Not the athlete with the most titles under his belt or the most trophies to show off, but rather Fox is remembered as a great Canadian athlete due to his amazing bravery in the face of something terrifying. He continues to inspire countless Canadians after all these years.

Lots of things in life are important. Our family certainly is, and so is relationship with friends. Finding something to do in life that brings us satisfaction and meaning is also important. Harvey MacKay once wisely said, “Find something you love to do and you will never work a day in your life.” I think he is correct. Within the Kingdom of God there are important things as well – servant leadership, putting others ahead of yourself, loving God above everything. Paul writes this in 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Among the principles of the Kingdom of God, are three that are immutable – faith, hope and love. By faith we enter into relationship with our Creator and we walk with Him daily. It is the hope we have in Christ that sustains us through the darkest of days and the most challenging situations. And it is by the love of God that a plan has been put into place by which we are forgiven and redeemed. Love is the foundation of our relationship with Jesus Christ and others in the family of God. No wonder it is the greatest.
These have been words from the heart.
