Words from the Heart for Monday August 24th, 2020
God said, “Let the seas be filled with living things. Let birds fly above the earth across the huge space of the sky.”
Genesis 1:20 (NIRV)
Seas and Skies
Situated 1600 km from the Atlantic Ocean, the Port of Montreal allows Canadian and American consumers easy access. It is connected by sea with over 100 countries on five continents and offers direct access between the principal ports of North Europe and the Mediterranean Basin. The port handles all types of cargo including 1.3 million containers annually. Export and import of containers at the Port of Montreal proceed smoothly since many leading maritime freight forwarders provide their services at the port.
I grew up in Thunder Bay, and from my bedroom window I would look down on the harbour each morning and count the ships that were moored beside the grain elevators and shipping terminal. Many had plied the oceans and the St. Lawrence Seaway to arrive in the heart of the North American continent. Sailors live on the massive bodies of water that God created, and are guided by what they see in the skies – weather formations and constellations. None of this happens by chance. Genesis 1:20 tells us, “God said, “Let the seas be filled with living things. Let birds fly above the earth across the huge space of the sky.” The Bible is very clear that God created all things. This includes the massive bodies of water that cover 71% of the planet. It also includes the sky, filled with living creatures, many of which bring us so much joy. (I can hear birders saying “amen!” to that). What a great God we know and love through Jesus, who is omnipotent and all-loving. Nothing about this world is by accident. And one day, through Jesus, God will redeem this world, and restore it to Eden. What a day that will be.
These have been words from the heart.
