Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters…

Concerning Jesus’ Coming
The conversation around road safety in North America is shifting rapidly. After years of hinting at new regulations, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States has officially submitted an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking to push forward anti-drunk driving technology. If adopted, it would mean that every new vehicle sold in America will come with some form of built in detection system designed to stop impaired drivers before they ever put a car in gear. Canada won’t be far behind.

As I speak to people who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it is obvious that with everything going on in our world, they have so little hope for the future. What a contrast to those of us who love Jesus and cling to what the Bible says is our blessed hope – the return of Jesus Christ. Paul speaks to this in 2 Thessalonians 2:1: “Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters…” Here is why the return of Jesus is our blessed hope – that promise tells us that the world is not drifting without direction. There is a plan here, and Jesus is the heart of the plan. The day is coming when He will gather all who love Him into His Kingdom. The word “gather” is a powerful one. It speaks of belonging, of being known, of being brought home. Whatever scattering life brings—worry, distraction, grief, or uncertainty—Christ is not finished with us. He is faithfully drawing His people to Himself. Today, let the blessed hope of Jesus’ return, steady our hearts and our minds. The day is coming soon when He will gather His people to Himself.
These have been words from the heart.
