And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’
Isaiah 51:16 (NKVJ)
A multitude of languages are used in Canada. According to the 2011 census, English is the mother tongue of 56.9% of Canadians and French is the mother tongue of 21.3% of Canadians. In total, 85.6% of Canadians have working knowledge of English, while 30.1% have a working knowledge of French. Under the Official Languages Act of 1969, both English and French have official federal status throughout Canada, in respect of all government services, including the courts, and all federal legislation is enacted bilingually. New Brunswick is the only Canadian province that is officially bilingual.
Everyone of us has experienced “one of those days.” Those days when life is a challenge and we feel abandoned and we wonder if we will be able to cope with it all? Those days when even a simple difficulty is the straw that breaks the camel’s back, and causes us to completely come apart? We wonder where the Lord is in the midst of those kinds of days. In Isaiah 51:16 the Lord gives us a wonderful promise: “And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’” On the worst of days, God speaks into our lives. His word strengthens us and encourages us when we need it the most. But more than that, He promises that He will cover us with the shadow of His abiding presence. The God who had the power to create the heavens and the earth surely has the power to watch over your life and protect you. After all, you are His, and He looks after His people.
These have been words from the heart.
