Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
God’s Love Perseveres
A campaign in Nunavik is putting the spotlight on Inuit youth to help promote resilience in education and in life. According to Stephanie Jacques, information officer with the Katvik Regional Government, “The School Perseverance Days campaign encourages Nunavimmiut to share personal stories of perseverance as a way to inspire students in Nunavik to stay the course. The idea is to bring awareness, make some noise and create a bit of a buzz about enforcing the value of perseverance in school and graduation.”

We celebrate marriages that last a lifetime. In a day when too many marriages end in divorce and promises to love till death are broken too easily, we appreciate couples that have put the time and effort into keeping the fire of love burning. It does take hard work, and a commitment to the covenant of marriage. Those of us who have put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ continue to experience His never-ending and never-lessening love. We are called, and equipped, to love like Jesus, persevering even when loving someone isn’t easy. In his beautiful “love chapter,” Paul the apostle writes this in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” God’s love for us is our standard. Just as His love for us always protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres, we must love others just like that – particularly in the covenant of marriage.
These have been words from the heart.
