Words from the Heart for Friday September 25th, 2020
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.
Psalm 91:15-16 (NIV)
I Will Answer Him
The First World War broke out in Europe in 1914 after the June assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne. The assassination set off a series of events on the already politically unstable continent and soon escalated into full-scale war. After weeks of crisis in Europe and a German invasion of neutral Belgium, Great Britain declared war on Germany. Canada was automatically committed, and sent out a call for volunteers. Tens of thousands answered the call and immediately enlisted.
God loves you. We are taught that in the pages of the Bible and have heard that basic truth over and over again. We don’t always understand what that really means. But the Psalmist David understood, and writes this in Psalm 91:15-16: “He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” David wrote these words through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God wants you to know just how much He loves you. So, He gives this clear promise. When we call on the Lord, He will answer. That speaks volumes about our God. This could not be said of any other God, in David’s day or ours. Through Jesus we have a relationship with the living God, who speaks into our lives and acts on our behalf. Do you notice the promise here? He is with us in trouble. And God doesn’t just walk through the challenging times with us, as wonderful as that is. He promises that whatever you are facing right now, it will not last. He will deliver you.
These have been words from the heart.
