Words from the Heart for Friday October 16th, 2020
I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.
John 14:30-31 (NLT)
Wind power has a history in Canada dating back many decades, particularly on prairie farms. As of December 2019, wind power generating capacity was 13,413 megawatts, providing about 6% of Canada’s electricity demand. The Canadian Wind Energy Association has outlined a future strategy for wind energy that would meet 20% of the country’s energy needs. Early development of wind energy in Canada was located primarily in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta. Alberta built the first commercial wind farm in Canada in 1993.
Checkers is an interesting game. It can look like one player is going to win, and suddenly the other player jumps three or four checkers and the tide instantly turns. This is how it is in the battle between good and evil, between the devil and the Lord. When Jesus died on the Cross, Satan was sure he had won the battle. God was dead. Surely that was it. If only he had listened to what Jesus said to His followers in John 14:30-31: “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.” When Judas came and betrayed the Lord, when Jesus bore the brunt of beating, mocking, scourging and crucifixion, when Jesus cried from the Cross “it is finished” Satan was convinced he had won the day. But Satan soon learned that he had no power at all. The empty tomb proves this. And the Day is coming when Jesus will speak “one little word” as Luther’s hymn reminds us, and Satan will be done.
These have been words from the heart.
