Most of us who follow Jesus are so aware of how far short we fall of God’s standard – to be perfect as He is perfect. Our actions and the attitudes of our hearts and minds can too easily be swayed by the words and actions of others, even within Christian circles. The book of Jude reminds us of how easily wrong thinking and wrong ideas about Jesus and the Gospel can enter into the fellowship of believers. But as he begins to wrap up his epistle, the apostle says this in Jude 1:24: “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy…” Jude has warned us about false voices, shaky ground, and dangerous paths. And then he reminds us of this: our safety does not rest in our grip on God, but in His grip on us. The same God who calls us is the God who keeps us. He guards our steps when we feel unsteady and restores us when we stumble. Notice, too, how we are presented—with great joy. So today, take heart. When your faith feels fragile and your strength feels thin, remember who is holding you
