Words from the Heart for Friday May 29th, 2020
Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Matthew 7:6 (NIV)
Dogs and Pigs
The Canadian Inuit dog is one of five Canadian dog breeds recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club. While the Club refers to this breed as the “Canadian Eskimo dog,” the Government of Nunavut calls it the Canadian Inuit dog and made it the territory’s official animal. In the Eastern Baffin dialect of Inuktitut the dog is called qimmiq. For hundreds of years, these dogs were used by the Inuit and their ancestors to pull sleds as a means of transportation.
There has always been those who have opposed the Gospel. Today, they get a hearing on social networks and in the press. They hate the God they say they don’t believe in, and no matter how much we try to show the love of Jesus to them, it doesn’t seem to have any impact on them. Jesus knew there would always be those who opposed the truth and opposed Him. In His generation they were the ones who crucified Him. Jesus knew that no matter how He expressed His love for them, they would continue to express their hate. In Matthew 7:6 He describes them this way: “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” We are called to share the good news with everyone who comes across our path. We will meet those in whom the Holy Spirit has been working, and we will find them responsive to the Gospel. There will also be those whose hearts are hardened, and they will lash out with anger and opposition. Love them all, but focus on those whose hearts are warm to the Lord.
These have been words from the heart.
