He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing.

Isaiah 40:23 (NLT)

Judging the Great People

The Spirit of the Lord is speaking through His servant, Isaiah. The Creator God has full authority over His creation. That includes all of mankind. Yes, He maintains His position of authority and His desire that all creation will come to know Him. He is a great God. He is a gracious God. Do not hesitate to bring your concerns to Him today.

Becoming a judge in Canada is quite different than in the US, where many are elected. In Canada, the federal government appoints judges who hear cases in the superior courts, and provinces and territories appoint judges to who hear cases in provincial and territorial courts. There are certain qualifications necessary to be appointed as a judge. Candidates must have practiced law in Canada and have other educational and experiential qualifications. After they are appointed, they must take training for the role.

The word ‘comeuppance’ is one of those words that sounds like its meaning. We are always happy when the pompous and the proud get their comeuppance: when they are knocked down a peg or two and don’t get away with their haughty attitude and their bullying tactics. Those of us who have a Biblical worldview understand that God will one day judge all people. This includes the powerful who have used their power to harm those for whom they should be caring and providing. Isaiah 40:23 tells us, “He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing.” God doesn’t miss a thing that happens on this earth of ours. He sees every sin and every injustice and being a God of pure justice, He will see to it that no one gets away with breaking His law and breaking His heart. God can’t simply ignore the sin and injustice that He sees all too often. His justice is balanced, however, by His love. Jesus has taken upon Himself, on the cross, the punishment we deserve for our sin. Your position in society doesn’t matter – important or not, you need a Saviour and His name is Jesus.

These have been words from the heart.
