The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Psalm 34:17 NIV

Listen to Words from the Heart

This past January, marine mammal rescuers successfully came to the assistance of an entangled juvenile humpback whale in BC. Fisheries and Oceans Canada received a report of a young humpback whale entangled in prawn gear in the Broughton Archipelago. Fortunately, a team was already in the area heading to Haida Gwaii, BC when the call came in. The team found the entangled whale near Port Hardy and tagged it with a satellite tracker. The whale was exhausted and had multiple wraps around the tail.

In some parts of Christianity there is a false idea that everything is always supposed to be happy and rosy when you become a follower of Jesus. But this isn’t Biblical. Jesus Himself said that in this world we will have troubles. It is clear from what the Bible teaches that we won’t experience perfection until we stand with Jesus in Glory. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t walk in victory, even in the midst of challenging times. We need to hear what King David wrote in Psalm 34:17: “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” Jesus stepped into our world and lived among His people for 33 years. He understands what it is like to live in this world. He experienced the troubles that David speaks about here. So, when we cry out to Him, we have the assurance that He understands and loves us enough to speak into our situation and do something about it. When you are facing difficult times, cry out to the Lord. He will hear you – and He promises to deliver you from your troubles. What a Saviour we have, who hears and delivers.

These have been words from the heart.
