For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
Ephesians 5:8 (NIV)
Darkness
Dark-Sky Preserves are protected areas that make a special commitment to protect and preserve the night, reducing or eliminating light pollution in all forms. Many plants, wildlife and insects rely on darkness to forage, breed and navigate, so protecting the dark sky not only provides a magical experience for you, but it also protects ecosystems! Parks Canada protects more dark skies than any other agency or jurisdiction in the world. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada decides which protected areas can be known as Dark-Sky Preserves, Urban Star Parks and Nocturnal Preserves.

I can’t imagine what the world must have been like at night before electricity. While cities had gas lights, once you got out of major population centres, the world would have been a very dark place. No wonder most people didn’t want to travel after dark. It just wasn’t safe. The Bible describes this kind of a world, spiritually. The apostle Paul, in Ephesians 5:8, says this: “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” Until we come into a personal relationship with Jesus, we have little interest and no insight into things eternal. We wander through life focused on the things of this world, hoping that if there is something beyond this life, we will somehow be good enough to experience it. The Bible describes it as being in darkness. Jesus declared Himself to be the light of the world, and when He comes into our life by faith, it’s like a light switch is turned on. For the first time we grasp God’s love for us and we experience His gift of eternal life. Walk in the light today.
These have been words from the heart.
