So I purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign, and assigned them duties, each to his own task. I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me with favor, my God.
Nehemiah 13:30-31 (NIV)
Remember Me with Favour
When it comes to fruit flavours in their sweet treats, Canadians prefer things, let’s say… a little less exotic. In fact, Canadians favour classic fruit flavours. A recent survey conducted by the marketing team at patisserie producer Puratos Canada delved into the topic of fruit flavours. Particularly, they wanted to know what flavour profiles were most likely to promote a purchase of a sweet baked good. 75% of those polled indicated they would be interested in buying sliced apple patisserie and baked goods. This was followed by wild blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, cherry and the classic strawberry-rhubarb blend.
The story of Nehemiah is a wonderful example of good planning, godly passion and excellent execution of the plan. The wall was repaired in just 52 days. But all the best plans will not be accomplished if the Lord’s favour is not on the project. Listen to the preparation Nehemiah puts into the entire plan in Nehemiah 13:30-31: “So I purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign, and assigned them duties, each to his own task. I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me with favor, my God.” Nehemiah did all he could to make sure that the plans were set. But he understood that nothing could be accomplished without the blessing of God on his plans. What plans have you worked hard on lately? Don’t forget to take the project and the plans and pray like Nehemiah that the Lord would place His favour on all that you have planned. When you have that assurance, you know your plans will succeed.
These have been words from the heart.
