In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

Ephesians 1:7-10 (NIV)

Sin has affected every part of life on this planet. That was never God’s intention, of course, but He knew it was coming. He knew that sin divides – people from other people, people from creation, people from God. All of this breaks the heart of our perfectly united triune God, so Jesus was sent to take care of the sin problem and bring unity to every relationship that had been broken by sin. No wonder Jesus would pray in John 17 that we would be one as He and the Father are one. That is a mystery. Paul would teach the same truth in Ephesians 1:7-10: “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfilment – to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” Jesus had done all He can to bring unity to all things. Let’s all get along.

These have been words from the heart.
