Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Psalm 25:5 NIV

If you’re an avid angler, hire a fishing guide and head to the Tree River in Nunavut. Tree River is one of the most spectacular and pristine sections of wilderness on earth, and supports the best Arctic Char fishery in Canada. This type of salmon is uniquely colored with a mix of deep green and vibrant red. Orange and blue dots dapple the sides of the fish. Though the Char is elusive, fishing for them in this beautiful, wild land will be an experience you never forget.

The role of the Bible in the life of a believer is critical. If we are going to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, it means we need to spend time studying the Bible every day. The God of the Bible is the God who speaks, as opposed to the gods of the nations around Israel who were always silent. The prophets of Baal learned that on Mount Carmel. God speaks clearly to us through His Word, and as we read it, the Holy Spirit guides us and helps us to understand what we are reading. The Psalmist understood this and writes this in Psalm 25:5: “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long.” The followers of Jesus called Him rabbi, the Hebrew word for teacher. The religious leaders were surprised by how Jesus taught and what He taught. Jesus is our rabbi, too. As we take time to read His Word, the Holy Spirit teaches us what the Lord wants us to learn. All He demands is that we have a teachable spirit. Do you?

These have been words from the heart.
