Words from the Heart for Friday June 11th, 2021
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Psalm 91:4 (NLT)
In Canada, The Salvation Army opened rescue homes and shelters in 1886. Today they operate more than 50 emergency shelters across Canada & Bermuda and provide 5,500 emergency shelter, transitional and supportive housing beds each night for men, women, youth and families experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. The Salvation Army also provides additional extreme weather response beds during the winter months. Through their holistic approach, aimed at meeting the multi-faceted needs of those they serve, they supplement every shelter stay with emotional and spiritual support.
God loves you. The Bible speaks to this over and over again, in a variety of ways. One of the most beautiful is heard in the words of Jesus at the end of the Palm Sunday parade. He is standing on the side of the Mount of Olives looking across the Kidron Valley at Jerusalem and in tears he says, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” Jesus here is using a similar analogy as David did in Psalm 91:4: “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Just as Jesus longed to gather the people of Jerusalem to save and protect them, so He longs to save and protect you. It is natural among every species that parents love their children. God loves you this way. After all, He created you and will do everything in His eternal and never-lessening power to protect you. How have you experienced His loving protection lately?
These have been words from the heart.
