Words from the Heart for Friday July 5th, 2019
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Psalm 127:1 (NKJV)
Building and Keeping
The slowdown in Canada’s housing market will get worse before it gets any better, a new analysis predicts, because the country is about to be flooded with a “huge amount” of new homes. According to Stephen Brown, who is Capital Economic’s senior economist “Canada has been undergoing a construction boom. As has been typical of historic real estate cycles around the world, new supply will reach the market just as demand is falling.” This could have a negative effect on the economy, starting with falling house prices.
My wife and I built a new home last year. It was quite a project and we are grateful for the many professionals who helped us answer the tons of questions we had about every detail of the project. We say that we built the house, but quite frankly, I didn’t lift a finger. It was the experts who built the house. What about your spiritual house? What about the house that is your life? Who is best to build that? Listen to what Psalm 127:1 says: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” I can’t even begin to imagine what my new home would be like if I had built it myself. Yet billions of people around the globe are building their lives without the Lord. It is no wonder that things are such a mess for so many. Only the Lord Jesus, who created you, can build your life into something that will stand into eternity. How have you asked Him to build your life today? What can He do to make it the beautiful edifice you, and He, desire?
These have been words from the heart.
