Words from the Heart for Friday July 31st, 2020
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
Ephesians 6:15 (NLT)
The Bata Shoe Museum is a museum of footwear in Toronto. The museum’s building is situated within the northwest of University of Toronto’s St. George campus, in downtown Toronto. Its collection of footwear originated from the personal collections of Sonja Bata, started in the mid-1940s. In 1979, Bata provided an endowment to create the Bata Shoe Museum Foundation, with the aim to have the collection professionally managed, and to establish a shoe museum to house, store, and exhibit the collection. The museum opened in 1995.
If you have foot problems, you know the importance of good footwear. Comfortable shoes can make the difference between a good day and a bad day. If this is the case with everyday footwear, it is even more important to soldiers who are walking, marching and fighting in their boots, sometimes doing so without being able to remove them for days at a time. So, it isn’t surprising that Paul, in writing about Christians involved in daily spiritual warfare, writes this in Ephesians 6:15: “For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.” It is the peace that Jesus gives us that will give us the ability to keep on walking with Christ and serving Him faithfully. It is the peace of Christ that carries us through the most challenging and painful times in our lives. When the enemy of our soul attacks us, belittles us, condemns us, using the weapons of hell itself, it is the peace that Jesus pours into our souls that gives us all we need to keep on going, keep on serving, keep on loving. Put on the shoes of Christ’s peace daily.
These have been words from the heart.
