Words from the Heart for Friday January 3rd, 2020
“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Revelation 21:5 (NKJV)
All Things New
The changes to the North American free trade deal recently made by the US Congress bring serious and major changes to the original deal, mostly aimed at lifting labour and environmental standards in Mexico. Experts had been referring to the deal as NAFTA 2.0, expecting updates and tweaks to the agreement first signed in 1993. But when the text of new agreement was finally released, after the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives secured key changes, it was clear it was a wholesale revision.
God is in the business of changing lives. When we become followers of Jesus, our entire nature changes – our sin is removed and our desires take a 180 degree turn. We are a new creation. We rejoice in the transformation that the Lord makes in our lives. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He defeated death and sin. As wonderful as that is, it is just the beginning of the changes He will make, not only in individual lives, but eventually in the entire world. All that sin brought about when Adam ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden will one day be transformed into the perfect world that He has planned for from before creation. The apostle John was given an amazing glimpse into the end of time, and he records this towards the end of his vision. He writes in Revelation 21:5 “Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” All things new. In your life and in all of creation. We long for that day.
These have been words from the heart.
