“but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 9:24 NIV

Delight

According to the Trans Canada Trail website, “If you can imagine a series of outdoor environments, each with a particular background, acoustics, lighting, aromas and characters, you can begin to understand the magic of traversing the Salt Marsh Trail in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. The transformations of landscapes, light and tides on the Salt Marsh Trail play out on markedly flat terrain, for the full length of the 6.5 kilometre gravel and wood path.  Accessible and a delight for all the senses, you will never forget your journey on this Trail section.

There are some words that just seem to fit – they sound like they mean. One such word is the word lavish – it just sounds … lavish! Another is delightful– it just sounds … delightful. We all take delight in something – it could be our children or grandchildren. Maybe it’s some beautiful scenery or a piece of music that touches us deeply. And if we experience delight in certain things, we know that our Creator does as well, and it might surprise you what He says brings Him delight. Jeremiah 9:24 says this: “’but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.” In a world filled with anger, hate, injustice and immorality, it is a blessing to know that the Lord takes no delight in any of this. Because we know that He delights in what is good, honest, just, kind and righteous, we have the assurance that one day He will make it all right and will take delight in doing so.

These have been words from the heart.
