Words from the Heart for Friday January 22nd, 2021
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
Ephesians 3:17 (NLT)
Home In Your Heart
Canadians tend to love the community they call home. We hold our home town in our hearts. That was certainly the case with a tiny rural community in Saskatchewan called Happyland. According to the community’s website “The rural municipality was named Happyland as a result of a settler in the area who was so delighted to be able to settle and live in this open, free land, and with their limited English, referred to it as a ‘happy land’ – the name stuck.”
It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a month since we celebrated Christmas. The whole world celebrates the entrance of Jesus into the world. It’s the most celebrated birthday in the world. I love Christmas – I’m so grateful there was a moment in time that the God who created time stepped into it, that the God who created the universe entered it in the most human of ways. But what so many miss about Jesus’ birth is that the plan was for far more than this most stupendous of events. Ephesians 3:17 says this: “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Jesus’ physical birth was just one step in His ultimate plan. His goal was to be born in the heart of anyone who would repent of their sin and invite Jesus to take up residence in their heart as Saviour and Lord. The heart of the Christian faith is that our Creator, the King of kings and Lord of lords desires to make His home in your heart. Have you invited Him to do so in your heart?
These have been words from the heart.
