Words from the Heart for Friday January 1st, 2021
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Canada and Ecuador have enjoyed official diplomatic bilateral relations since 1960. However, our peaceful bilateral ties extend back to the early 1900’s when Canadian railway engineers, mining experts and missionaries worked in Ecuador. Today there are 25,410 Canadians of Ecuadorian origin, and some 5,000 or so Canadians residing in Ecuador. Canada and Ecuador enjoy a shared commitment to free trade, fighting corruption, and promoting social inclusion and human rights, particularly those of disabled persons, indigenous groups and women.
Happy New Year. The holiday season is just about over, and a new year awaits. A year ago, none of us could have predicted what 2020 would have brought. None of us know today what 2021 will bring either. The Bible gives us some good advice. Psalm 46:10 says this: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” No matter what lies ahead, this verse gives us assurance and a command. It assures us that throughout this year, as has been the case since the very beginning, God will be exalted among the nations. In a day where many deny His existence and refuse to bow their knees, God has His people in every nation on the earth. Through them He receives the exaltation that He deserves. As we face this year, we do so with a fresh passion to declare the Lord to all He sends our way. And no matter what this year brings, we are called to heed His command to be still, and know that He is God. I don’t know if you’ve made any resolutions this year, but here are the best – exalt the Lord, and be still. He is God.
These have been words from the heart.
