I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Who Love Me

In his travel site, blogger Matt gives ten reasons to love Canada. In reason 6 he writes “Stand on the street corner of any Canadian city with an open map and you can count on somebody coming to help you. Canadians are THAT nice. They don’t honk in traffic and tend to apologize profusely for even the slightest transgression. Maybe it’s the water (which is delicious right out of the tap)… or maybe Canadians are just that nice.”

There is a Kingdom of God principle I wish followers of Jesus would understand more fully – the moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ we die. Now, I get that at that moment, we receive the gift of eternal life, and it is a moment of great joy because of this. But eternal life can only come as we die to our old self and its sinful ways. Paul the apostle describes this in Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” The moment we receive Christ as Saviour, we die to everything in our past that has been driven by our flesh and has led to sin and disobedience. Our old life is crucified with Jesus, nailed to the cross. Only when that happens can resurrection life rise within us, as Jesus takes up residence. He now lives in us – His life, not ours. Once we fully grasp this, everything changes – how we live, what we think, how we see ourselves and our Creator. All because Christ lives in you.

These have been words from the heart.
