Words from the Heart for Friday December 31st, 2021
A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.
Job 14:5 (NIV)
Our Days Are Numbered
U.S. Immigration allows Canadians to visit the U.S. for up to 182 days during any rolling 12-month period. The Internal Revenue Agency, allows you to visit the U.S. for up to 182 days within a calendar year. How you calculate those 182 days is where it gets confusing. If you exceed 180 days in the U.S. over 3 years, you need to file IRS Form 8840 to prove a closer connection to Canada and avoid paying US taxes.
Another year has come and gone. It was a full year of pandemic – 2021 will always be remembered for that above all else. We have learned as Christians just how delicate life can be. Many of us have lost family members and friends to COVID-19. God is working hard at getting our attention these days. Life is short. This past year has gone by like a blink. Centuries ago, the ancient patriarch wrote this in Job 14:5: “A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” As you stand on this final day of 2021 and look back, I’m sure your life is not the same as it was a year ago. Whether minor changes have taken place this year, or a major life transition, if you are a follower of Jesus you should have recognized that He was present in all things that took place this past year. He has your life in His hands. He will as you look forward to 2022 as well. You have no idea what the next 365 days is going to look like. But Jesus does. Trust Him fully as you bravely enter 2022. Happy New Year!
These have been words from the heart.
