Words from the Heart for Friday December 20th, 2019
For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”
1 Peter 1:24-25 (NIV)
An Enduring Power of Attorney is a legal document for advance planning in Canada. The document gives power from one competent adult, the donor, to another competent adult, the agent or attorney to do certain things or take actions on the donor’s behalf regarding financial and legal matters. It is especially helpful when a person needs some assistance due to illness, injury and disability.
When I was in my 20s I had no sense of how quickly life passes. My experience as a child was that time went by slowly, and that was the case in my teens as well. My parents probably didn’t think that – I was amazed at how quickly my children grew up. But as I age, the years seem to just fly by now and I am more and more aware of the brevity of life. So was the apostle Peter. He writes in 1 Peter 1:24-25: “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” I am so amazed whenever I read the Bible at how applicable it is for life today. It really shouldn’t surprise us. The God who created the world also wrote the Book, and He knows the human condition intimately. He knows how quickly life passes and how fickle we are at heart. So He has given us His Book, His word, so that we might apply His perfect and eternal wisdom to our hearts. It’s no wonder the Bible is so timeless. The deepest needs of the human heart never change, and Jesus remains the one and only answer to those needs.
These have been words from the heart.
