Words from the Heart for Friday December 14th, 2018
And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:41 (NKJV)
The Babe Leaped
The Lord was very gracious to Mary (and to Elizabeth) by giving Mary the news that her aged cousin was also miraculously pregnant. That revelation resulted in Mary making her way as a pregnant young virgin to where Elizabeth lived some distance away. The supernatural events that happened when they came into each other’s presence was evidence that God had called them both into a supernatural plan by His own will and sovereign choice.
She’s quiet, a little bit shy and just wants to be a hockey team’s goalie for fun. She also holds the key to Manitoba’s millennium time capsule, to be opened when she’s 70. Delaney Jost is the first Manitoban born in the new millennium, and on January 1st this year she became the first one to be an adult. Jost was born to William and Rose-Ann on January 1, 2000, at 12:01 a.m. at Victoria General Hospital, making her the first baby born in the province after the calendar flipped from 1999.
We Christians are unwavering in our stand for the protection of life from the moment of conception. There is a reason for this – God is unwavering in His stand for the protection of life from the moment of conception. Over and over the Bible speaks about life in the womb, and nowhere is it more pronounced that in the story of expectant Mary meeting her expectant cousin Elizabeth, who would soon give birth to John the Baptist. Luke 1:41 records it this way: “And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” I love this story. Mary greets Elizabeth and the baby she is carrying leaps within her. The unborn child recognizes the unborn Messiah. This is a profoundly moving and important moment and it takes place in two wombs. These unborn babies understood their role in redemption history – and they weren’t even born yet. I wonder how many plans God had for the human race that have been prevented because of abortion? We will know one day.
These have been words from the heart.
