Words from the Heart for Friday December 13th, 2019
I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,…
Philemon 1:4-5 (NKJV)
Love for God’s People
Canadian bloggers were recently asked what they love about Canada, or particularly, what they love about where they live in Canada. Corbin Fraser, the blogger behind I Backpack Canada, says the food scene is one of the things he loves about Montreal. He writes “Whether it’s the baguettes at a local bakery, fresh vegetables from the Jean-Talon Market, a delicious late evening dinner at Van Horne or a 2am poutine at La Banquise. Montreal is jam-packed with incredible restaurants, pubs and delis.”
One of the marks of being a follower of Jesus is that you love God’s people. In my ministry I have the great privilege of traveling the world and spending time with God’s people in a variety of countries and cultures. There is always an immediate connection because we all love Jesus and the same Holy Spirit dwells in me that dwells in them. It is amazing, actually. Paul felt the same way when he wrote his epistles to churches and individuals. In Philemon 1:4-5 he wrote: “I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints.” As we pray for each other, we are reminded of how much God loves us. When praying, we remember them and as is the case here, gratitude results, gratitude for them and their role in our lives, and gratitude to the Lord for what He is doing in them. One of the greatest blessings we have as followers of Christ is to belong to His family, and to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Take time today to pray for those whom the Lord puts on your heart and mind.
These have been words from the heart.
