Words from the Heart for Friday August 21st, 2020
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalm 90:12 (KJV)
Number Our Days
U.S. Immigration allows Canadians to visit the U.S. for up to 182 days during any rolling 12-month period. Most recently Canada and U.S. border control has started sharing information to track when you enter and exit each country. In the past this was never shared so there was no way for each country to know when you left and no way to count your days. The rules have not changed, they are just now enforcing the amount of time people are spending in the U.S.
The old King James Bible tells us that the average life of a human being is three score and ten – seventy years. That is how you measure it in years. In days that would be 25,550. And they seem to pass by faster and faster these days. The Bible gives some good advice about the passing of time. In Psalm 90:12 we read “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” In Matthew 6:34 Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow for today has enough cares. And he teaches us to pray “Give us this day our daily bread.” But there is great wisdom, God says, in numbering our days. We who love the Lord Jesus have been called to pour our lives into that which has eternal significance. We are placed on this earth for just such a time as this. God has called us to serve Him, and we will do that wisely as we are aware that while we have eternity assured, while we are on this side of Glory, we have a task to fulfill. Life will go by quickly. Number your days and apply your heart unto wisdom.
