Words from the Heart for Friday August 20th, 2021
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
He Cares for You
When the Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc became Governor General of Canada, he was determined to thank the thousands of caring people who give so much to their fellow citizens, the unsung heroes who volunteer their time, their efforts and a great deal of their lives to helping others, and who ask for nothing in return. In April 1996, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award was created to recognize the example set by these special volunteers whose compassion and charity are such a part of the Canadian character.
When we know we are loved, life becomes so much more meaningful. There is no greater blessing than to know that there is someone on whom we can lean when the challenging times come. Which is why 1 Peter 5:7 is one of the most beloved verses in the Bible. It says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” We are all carrying worries and concerns. Financial pressures, illness, the passing of a loved one, wayward children or grandchildren all weigh on our hearts and minds. It’s a blessing to have another human being to walk through whatever is causing the heartache and concern. But what brings the greatest peace is knowing that God cares and that He is waiting for us to cast our care and anxiety on Him. What a wonderful invitation. There is nothing too great for our God to carry. If you, by faith, have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord, you know by experience the peace He has given you. That same peace comes when we cast our worries and care on Him as well. He invites you to do so right now.
These have been words from the heart.
