“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:5-6 NIV
Unseen
Since 2021 there has been a trend in the real estate business – buying a house unseen. Video tours have become the norm for real estate agents trying to attract out-of-province buyers. Nova Scotia, in particular, was targeting potential buyers living in Toronto to relocate permanently. As a result, homes were sold to people who had never even been to the province — let alone seen the property in person. It’s a bold move, but it may be one way to avoid bidding wars and disappointment.

The thing about faith is that it is just that … faith. The God in whom we have put our faith is not a God who is seen. That is the point – our walk with Him is by faith in the unseen God. There is coming a day when our faith will be sight, but in the meantime, we trust Him because of how we see Him in our world and in our daily lives, transforming us, guiding us and providing for us. The Bible understands this, and so Jesus teaches us about this as He focuses on prayer. Matthew 6:5-6 quotes Jesus: “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” The thing about God is that while He is unseen, He sees everything, even that which is done in secret. Trust in our unseen God today.
These have been words from the heart.
