The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-24

The Israelites ate unleavened bread to recall their deliverance from slavery in Egypt (Exod. 12); taking the communion bread reminds us of Jesus’ death which delivers us from the bondage of sin. Take a moment to thank God for freedom from sin!
