Bring Bible-based literacy to
rural Kenya for the first time!

...because there is a need here!

Men from Marsabit County in Kenya

In rural Kenya, learning skills like cattle raiding is often more important than attending school or learning to read and write. Local champions are working to change this by starting adult Bible-based literacy classes where men and women will learn to write while being introduced to Jesus.

Koinet's Story

In Koinet’s village, less than 3 in 10 adults knows how to read and write. Koinet, like many of his peers, did not attend school. Instead, he learned cattle raiding skills from the men in his village.

On one particularly violent cattle raid, Koinet was critically injured by a gunshot wound to his arm.

It was a wakeup call for him. Koinet questioned the purpose of his life, and while recovering, was visited by Pastor Samuel. Pastor Samuel read to him from a Bible, and told him all about Jesus. Koinet surrendered his life to Jesus right there. But when Pastor Samuel offered the Bible to Koinet, he shook his head sadly, “I don’t know how to read.”

Koinet needs to learn how to read his Bible so that he can understand how Jesus wants him to live.
