Pursuing Your Relationship with Him

Pursuing Relationship

The story of Zacchaeus is one that is well-known, because of how passionately Zacchaeus pursued Jesus when he visited Jericho. Zacchaeus, known as a sinner in Jericho, was unable to see past the crowds to witness Jesus speaking, so he climbed a tree. Jesus, knowing that Zacchaeus was sitting in the tree, called out to him saying, ‘Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.’” Jesus chose to stay at Zacchaeus’ house because He wanted to show His love for Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was desperate to learn from Jesus, and his passion was evident to Jesus.

Jesus wants His children to passionately pursue Him with all of their mind, body, and spirit. As followers of Christ, we are called to deepen our relationship with Jesus and get to know Him better.  It is when we learn who God is that we can learn who we are, as we are made in His image.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

You may not know me, but I know everything about you. I know when you sit down and when you rise up. I am familiar with all your ways.
