In Armenia last summer, Zabel joined a children’s camp for the first time—a safe, joyful place where kids can play, make friends, and learn how deeply Jesus loves them. Zabel is an only child from a single-parent home. “Before I went to camp, I didn’t listen to my mom,” she admits. “I lied a lot and was jealous when other kids talked about their fathers or their siblings.” At camp, Zabel made new friends who welcomed her, and she heard—for the first time—how much Jesus loves her. She treasured the new Bible she received. Zabel has come to know Jesus and to know that she has a Father who will never abandon her. “Even though my earthly father isn’t here, I have my Heavenly Father who helps me and will never leave me!” she says.
