Prayer Request: Week of May 7th, 2017
Inside the metal hut district
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit the northern region of Armenia in 1988. Many homes were destroyed in the town of Vanadzor and temporary metal huts were intended to provide short term shelter for those left homeless. But nearly 30 years later there are still 318 families living in these huts! Many of the children have no access to education. There is also little presence of God’s Word in the community leading to different kinds of sin and immorality taking hold of many lives. Bible League Canada, in partnership with local champions in Armenia, is working with the churches in Vanadzor to bring Summer Camps to the metal huts district. 60 children from the district attended! The children had fun, but more importantly they had the opportunity to hear the Word of God and experience love and care from local believers. During the camp days it was clear that the children were happy which can often be rare for this group.
Please pray that this the children’s ministry in Armenia will continue to expand and that more children, and their families through them, will be introduced to Jesus!
