Finding Strength

Psalm 23 passage

Ethiopia is currently one of the most talked about countries in the world, as they have struggled with extreme drought and are now facing flooding and landslides. Thousands have been displaced, acres of crops have been washed away and livestock are barely surviving. Despite the extreme conditions that Ethiopia has faced it is remaining strong, as it has done throughout its history.

Ethiopia gained full independence at a young age, making it the oldest country in Africa to be so. It has remained a symbol of independence and strength for Africa, and is a hub for international affairs as it was one of the founding members of the United Nations, and is an African base for organizations all over the world. Countries are being called upon to help provide food and resources to the people of Ethiopia, to help them make it through this tough time.

Ethiopia is one of Africa’s poorest nations, making it difficult to grow economically, especially in light of the droughts and flooding. Christianity is the major religion, but many are experiencing persecution, especially if they have left their previous religion to become Christian. It is times like these that people turn to God to rely on his strength and peace, and it is what many persecuted Christians are doing. Bible verses and scriptures have brought strength to those who have had to endure trials and hardship for their beliefs, and they are showing everyday their love for God.

Our team has worked in Ethiopia for years, helping people learn how to read, introducing them to the Bible, and establishing churches so that people will have a place to worship God and learn about His teachings. There is a strong need in Ethiopia and we are working to help fill that need. Ethiopia has endured a lot of hardship in its history, but people have remained strong. It is impossible for us to truly know what is taking place in Ethiopian cities, communities and households, but we can provide the scriptures to those who need them.

“…But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
