Did you know?
97% of the population follow Buddhism, the official religion
Almost 30% of Cambodians live on less than $1.50 per day
About 8,000 villages are without a Christian witness
Jesus came to “proclaim good news to the poor...to set the oppressed free.”
Kanya and Chakara had a small rice paddy that provided food and income to support themselves and their young daughter. The small family was poor, but managed to survive.
Then Chakara developed a serious mental disorder that rendered him unable to work. Even worse, Chakara became violent and a threat to his wife, his daughter and the entire village. The situation became so desperate that Kanya had no choice but to chain Chakara to a tree.
Distraught, Kanya spent all they had seeking a cure from local witch doctors and priests. But nothing worked, and the family was forced into bankruptcy.
After three years of this torment, Kanya met a woman named Seyha. She talked about the power of Jesus Christ and His promise to help. Through much prayer and fasting in the name of Jesus, God healed Chakara and delivered him from the bondage of his illness!
Now Chakara has been restored as a loving husband and father. And the family has been able to regain their farmland.
God works through people like you to transform lives in Cambodia
Your gift will empower passionate, dedicated Christians in Cambodia through a 12–24 month discipleship program where they are mentored by experienced leaders.
You will equip them with Bibles and Scripture resources to share the Good News with their communities. Each of the local champions you empower will start one or two churches in communities where there are none today.
Today in Cambodia, there are 8,000 villages filled with people like Kanya and Chakara who have never heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. People who are waiting to be set free from the oppressive fear that comes from living in spiritual darkness.
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free”
John 8:36 (NLT)
