We never know what the day will hold or what we will encounter. That is one of the beautiful things about life. It is impossible to predict how the events of the day will unfold or what we will have to work through with friends, family, coworkers and even with ourselves. It can be easy to walk in fear of what the day will bring, but that is no way to live. God says that we should never worry, but instead embrace each new day because He knows what will happen and what we will face before we do. Even though we do not know the trials that the day may hold, we can rest in the fact that God is with us.

Psalm 91 is one of the most well-known Psalms in the Bible that details the protection and refuge that we can find in Christ. A few verses, in particular, stand out within this Psalm that show the affection that God has for His children.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 91:1-2, 4

Have you ever watched birds tuck their chicks in for the night? They fluff their feathers and cover their chicks with their wings and pull them close. The hatchlings are warm and protected as they are brought into a safe space where they can find rest. God does this for His children. In times of worry and fear, we can call out to God and ask for His protection and peace. God has not promised that we will never encounter problems in this world, but He has promised that He will be by our side no matter what.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

Jesus died on the cross so that we may be washed clean of our sins and have everlasting life. In dying on the cross, He also overcame the world. In times when we feel overwhelmed, worried or fearful, we can know that in God we can find peace, grace, and joy. Begin every day with God and see all of the goodness that He has in store for you!
