Canada Day celebrations still linger in the air as Canadians head back to work after welcoming in our nation’s 149th birthday. Canada, founded on July 1st, 1867, is now home to over 35.16 million people and that number is continuing to grow. Canadians continue to recognize just how amazing Canada is and how truly blessed we are to be able to call it home.
Canada has always been considered a Christian nation, as Bible verses have been inscribed on the Parliament buildings, and the Lord’s Prayer marked the beginning of school and government meetings for years. Our founding fathers shared their faith and it is believed that the phrase, the ‘Dominion of Canada’ was inspired by Psalm 72:8, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.”
Canada has faced hardship this past year, but because of the passion of its people, it has been able to overcome. One of the biggest disasters to ever hit Alberta, the wildfires that destroyed homes, land, business, and personal belongings, brought the country and the world together as people donated their time, energy and money to help victims and emergency crews.
Canada has also welcomed refugees from countries all over the world to help them create a better life for themselves. Fathers and mothers are now able to see a future for their children, because of the great opportunities that Canada provides and the continued peace that our ancestors and families have fought for.
Bible League Canada is proud to be Canadian, as we are able to work with amazing people like you, to help those in need. For years we have worked in countries around the globe but we have also been working at home, helping people learn more about God and how truly amazing He is. We are going to continue our work in Canada and see lives transformed, as our passion is to help Canadians recognize just how special we are to our Heavenly Father.
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
