The team captain on a Grade 5 Bible Memorization Quizzing team motions to his team to lean in for some final instructions. After a few whispered words, he says, “Let’s pray for a good round, guys!” and they all bow their heads to acknowledge the Source of their abilities.
Why do students participate in Bible quizzing? One student liked being able to know “everyday kind of verses” by heart, like Don’t be anxious about anything… and I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me. They enjoyed the team work, and studying this together. One well-travelled student said he knew a lot about a lot of places, but he did not know enough about the Bible, and this was a good way to learn.
This is part of a program being supported in part by Bible League Canada through the Youth Bible Engagement program.
Bible quizzing is a great way to get kids to read the Bible with intent and gain understanding of what they are reading. These students have made room in their heads for Scripture, and the Holy Spirit will grow this Word in their hearts!
